Avon and Somerset Police revealed the theft three months after it occurred, releasing CCTV footage of four masked suspects believed to have carried out the raid.<br /><br />The artefacts—considered culturally and historically significant—were taken between 1am and 2am on September 25, 2025, from a building on Cumberland Road. Police say the items were part of a vast collection documenting Britain’s colonial history across Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean.<br />Detective Constable Dan Burgan called the theft a “significant loss for the city,” urging the public to help identify the suspects or report any artefacts being sold online.
